Focus on Health Care Reform

Some 300 registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) from across the country gathered in Washington, D.C. from May 4-7, 2009 for the 12th annual National Nurses Congress hosted by AFSCME-United Nurses of America (UNA). The Congress focused on the issue of health care reform with experts from a variety of fields. Sessions looked at reform options that will make a true difference in patient care, the impact measures may have on working nurses and how to effectively lobby Congress on these issues. The Congress also included sessions to address union building and issues that nurses face on the job.
